Erin: Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, Food Sensitivities

I’m really… it’s really very neat for me to be here because of course I was sick like you just a little while ago. And this is the place where it all started for me. So I feel very warmly about being here in this room, in this building. I drive by this area of town sometimes, and I just, I’m brought back to the warmth and the support of this group and, and the process. I wonder where to start. And I think the thing that I really want to say first is that this is it. That you don’t have to doubt that process of being here, the steps of going through this program. This is it. This is the catalyst for the remarkable change that you’re looking for…and it’s worth it. It’s worth every second. It’s worth every, every dollar.

And if you’re like me, it begins to replace all the dollars you’re spending in other ways looking for health, whether it’s moving house or going to the naturopath or supplements and, and other vehicles for wellness. Not only did I have MCS, but I had multiple food sensitivities and some autoimmune symptoms. And this food sensitivities list was so great that what I ate was salad, vegetables. I couldn’t eat seeds or nuts or certainly no dairy products. And things like avocados, you know, couldn’t eat an avocado anymore, A banana. I saw someone eating a banana , right? So, so that’s a huge change for me that I ate pie from the bakery, that I ate a bagel with cream cheese. You know, that’s, that’s huge. That’s so normal. Isn’t that normal? Do you have food sensitivities as well? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So it’s remarkable. And that limits your socializing. It limits all of that. So bagels are in your future.

Bagels are in your future in terms of natural products. It, they’re just logical. So you don’t have to spend any more time from a chemical point of view justifying using natural products and engaging in that argument. It’s just logical, except that argument for now you have other work to do and enjoy using the products that are safe for you and safe for the earth and be done with it, right? That ongoing argument doesn’t have to keep happening. So I came out of here feeling lots better initially, and I spent, you know, initially I had these short lengths of time where I was symptom free, and then I would have this little dip. Life would get stressful. Life got really stressful this year, and with that stress came more symptoms. And so I had to learn to renegotiate how I was responding to stressful situations. And then, so for me, it took me a little longer than six months,

Just so you know… today I am a hundred percent free from multiple chemical sensitivity, a hundred percent. Periodically I get stressed, I notice I start to smell more. And then I say never indulge in being discouraged about your personal process. Never. There’s no space for that. I went into Home Depot last week, I walked in the front door and I was with my kids, and we went here and we went there, and then I only remembered that I ever had an issue because we walked towards the section and I thought, oh, I remember when I used to be really in a lot of fear as I walked towards the drywall section. So that was it. There was no, I didn’t even actually notice the smell of paint, the smell of the fertilizer in the garden center. So I’m just thinking what I walked by. I, I didn’t notice anything. None of it. It wasn’t there.  In terms of multiple food sensitivity, I am 98% better. I eat everything except for two nuts. So I think that’s pretty great. And the people around me are just staggered. My husband just amazed. Just amazed that life has returned to normal. So do it. Don’t be dismayed. Don’t be daunted. Have a good time. This is the path. This is the path to wellness.
