Overcoming Environmental Allergies, Multiple Food Sensitivities & Chemical Intolerance: Colleen’s Success Story
For as long as she could remember, Colleen lived with sensitivities.
As a child, she had environmental allergies. Over time, food sensitivities began to creep in, then multiply. Eventually, everyday chemicals became overwhelming. Hair dye. Mascara. Shampoo. Laundry detergent. Dryer sheets. Cleaning products. Even walking past a house venting scented fabric softener could trigger symptoms. Perfumes were unbearable.
“The list just got bigger and bigger and bigger,” she recalls.
So she adapted. She avoided. She narrowed her world, and her diet. Before discovering DNRS, Colleen tried it all: allergists, skin tests, blood work, elimination diets, strict avoidance protocols. After years of trial and error, she felt exhausted and exasperated. Eventually, she stopped searching for answers.
Discovering a New Possibility
Colleen first read Wired for Healing by Annie Hopper with the intention of helping her daughter recover from Lyme disease. But as she turned the pages, something unexpected happened.
“I saw myself in it.”
The symptoms Annie described mirrored her own experience. For the first time, Colleen began to consider that limbic system impairment might be at the root of her long list of sensitivities. She and her daughter decided to go through the DNRS program together.
Still, she was cautious.
“I really didn’t think it would help me. I wanted to believe it would—but I thought my case was different.”
Early Shifts and Real Healing
To her surprise, Colleen felt a shift in the very first week.
Improvements continued steadily over the course of a year. Around the 14-month mark, she felt truly healed and recovered.
Then, a car accident shook her confidence…and her nervous system.
“It felt like my brain had shifted backwards. I backtracked a lot.”
With coaching support and encouragement to resume her daily rounds, Colleen restarted the program. This time, her recovery was rapid. The setback became proof: the tools worked.
Life Without Limits
Today, Colleen says she has recovered from everything.
Foods that once caused her throat to tighten—avocados, bananas, even butternut squash—no longer trigger any reaction. The chronic itching, hives, and burning sensations are gone. The chemical sensitivities that once dictated her daily life have disappeared.
For the first time in 40 years, she can wear mascara. Lipstick. Hair products. Everyday cosmetics.
And perhaps most unexpectedly, her energy returned.
“I didn’t realize how much cortisol was coursing through my body,” she says. “I just thought I was tired. But after I recovered, I had so much more energy. I felt unstuck. Unburdened.”
She also discovered something profound about healing:
“We don’t always notice when the bad things disappear. We only notice when they’re there.”
Over time, she began to recognize the absence of symptoms, the quiet victories. No itching. No hives. No burning. Simple freedoms she hadn’t experienced in decades.
A Message of Encouragement
Colleen is open about the fact that healing isn’t linear. There are ups and downs. Progress and plateaus. But consistency matters.
To those currently in the program, she says:
“Keep at it. It’s going to help you. This works.”
And to those still on the fence:
“What do you have to lose?”
After witnessing not only her own recovery but also her daughter’s—and another relative’s—Colleen confidently recommends DNRS to friends and loved ones.
“It’s hard work,” she says. “But it’s worth every bit of effort you put into it.”
