Ella was diagnosed with Chronic Lyme Disease in 2022. She experienced severe chronic health problems as a result ranging from chronic pain and mental health issues to the progressive deterioration of her feet. She went from being a highly active person walking and running daily to being unable to stand in the shower for longer than two minutes.
Ella saw countless specialists and tried numerous treatments. Nothing was working. That is until her mom heard about DNRS through a friend of a friend. Ella was initially skeptical, exhausted from the ongoing cycle of having hope after hearing about a new treatment only to have it fail. But she decided to give DNRS a shot because she had “an amazing feeling about it.”
She recently provided an update about her recovery with DNRS in the Global Community Forum. In her own words (lightly edited for length and clarity) here is the post Ella wrote to our community just before her first anniversary of doing DNRS. She reflects on her many victories and how the DNRS practices continue to improve her life.
Her words are an incredible testament to what is possible when you commit yourself to the DNRS Program. Ella shares…
“I have a deep trust in my body that I haven’t had in years! I am building a foundation for resilience, for joy and for living a happy wonderful existence!”
Ella’s Lyme Disease Success Story: A Letter To The Global Community Forum
Hi everyone! I wanted to share some quantitative data that demonstrates my progression during 11 months of DNRS! I think this is helpful for those of us who appreciate visual data, and hopefully, my post will reassure those of you who feel like you aren’t seeing significant changes “fast enough.”
The data in question are my step count graphs from 1) before my perfect storm, 2) after my perfect storm and before DNRS, and 3) after starting DNRS. For context, my main IT is chronic pain, especially in my feet. I struggled with inflammation and pain for many years, but it all came to a head in 2021 when my limbic system reached a breaking point, and I started experiencing debilitating pain in my feet. I went from being a very active person (going for runs, and walking an average of ~10,000 steps a day) to not even being able to stand for two minutes in the shower. I had to rely on a wheelchair for even a short distance of walking. My average step count was at about ~2,000 steps per day, which is most likely an overestimate, as I heavily relied on my bike and this obscured the data (see graphs 1 and 2).
During these dark 2 years, I visited every doctor under the sun, and I received some chronic and depressing diagnoses. Countless treatments did not work, and instead, my pain worsened. When I finally came upon DNRS, I felt hopeless.
Now, the miracle that is DNRS!! I started DNRS at the very end of April 2023. As you can see from the graph, for the first 6 months, there were only slight physical improvements.
I remember thinking that perhaps some of my ITs were decreasing. I was overjoyed that I could now walk 10 minutes at a time, which was a huge progress from the 2-minute increments I was working with at the start of DNRS. But I also felt a little discouraged with the rate of recovery. Despite this, I was already very grateful for DNRS.
I was emotionally in a world of difference from where I started. I felt much more joyful (hope is a wonderful thing) and I trusted that DNRS would heal me. I remember thinking that even if the physical ITs do not improve anymore, at the very least, my emotional and cognitive reality was so much better and happier, and this was worth it (see my note at the end about Living DNRS, because this was super helpful for me during this time).
Around month 7 or 8, I started to see amazing, spell-bounding, miracle-level progress. It just shot up! I now easily walk ~8,000+ steps a day. I even went for a 30-minute run the other week, which is a huge accomplishment because running/jumping can be especially triggering to my limbic system.
Yesterday, I walked 12,000 steps, as I enjoyed my day in the beautiful city in which I live. My body once again craves the active lifestyle I used to live. A month ago, I started bouldering/rock climbing regularly, which would have been inconceivable to me a year ago.
Here is a list of some of the positive shifts since starting DNRS:
- Pain in feet, knees, fingers, and shoulders has significantly improved
- I no longer get yeast infections (and they used to come every month)
- Period cramping has decreased
- No more nightly hives!
- No more dairy intolerance, alcohol sensitivity, gluten sensitivity (I eat and drink ANYTHING that I want now)
- I stopped taking thyroid medication that I had been dependent on for 6 years
- I have not had a case of Raynaud’s disease since I started DNRS, and my feet and hands used to go completely numb and white during the winters
- Insomnia has significantly improved
- I have once again found self-love, and I enjoy being alone again with my own thoughts and my own body. I am in awe at my body, and I feel a deep tenderness for her. My body no longer feels like an enemy, or something I need to control or work into submission.
I hope this provides some hope. I have a ways to go still (I want to be able to run for an hour!), but I know I will get there, and you will too. Feel free to ask any questions. I will say that the Living DNRS group has been hugely important for my recovery. I’ve been in them since the beginning, and they have been so helpful in encouraging me and providing me with a community. I credit those groups for the rate of my progress. Plus, they were great for helping me notice and celebrate the subtle wins, which was crucial for my commitment in those first months. So, I highly highly recommend them!
Also hugely helpful has been the incremental training, and embracing discomfort. I experienced the biggest shifts when I felt far out of my comfort zone (for example, going to a music festival even though I “didn’t feel ready”). We can do so much more than we think, and sometimes it takes a little push to realize this. Ultimately, I recommend to just stick with it and trust the process 🙂
